Termite Pretreatments
Termite Pretreatments are a necessity in areas where termites damage structures by feeding on cellulose (mostly wooden) components. Eastern North Carolina and Tidewater, Virginia are prime areas for termite activity. For this reason, building codes and lending institutions almost always require termite pretreatments for new buildings.
Terminix offers three different types of termite pretreatments:
- Terminix Liquid Defend System: Preconstruction horizontal soil treatment, followed by a post construction perimeter treatment.
- Borate Treatment: Applied at the “dried” in stage of construction. The goal is to create a 2 foot wide zone above the slab or soil surface of treated structural elements.
- Terminix Baiting System: A stand-alone termite pretreatment system installed in the ground around the perimeter of the structure after the final grade has been set.
As the expression “time is money” rings particularly true with the demands of building a home, Terminix has built its reputation on being able to provide a dependable and quick response to the building industry.

We worked with Mike who was incredibly helpful and patient in explaining the situation with our crawlspace! My parents aren’t native English speakers so I was on the phone with Mike while he was with my parents at home and walked me though the plan and the paperwork. Wonderful service!

My service technician Calvin Watson, was very professional, personable, and efficient in completing my bi-monthly service. I also use Terminix around the foundations of my house and shed for for termite prevention- they have been great with no issues during the years we have lived here.
But when he would come he was always so kind to her asking her how she was feeling and if she was doing ok.
And when he came the other day and found out my mom passed he was upset and told me how sorry he was I think that is what makes you guys a great company cause the guys you employ don’t just come to spray to care about the customer.
And we have had the same tech person come spray for 2years now and we couldn’t be happier with him or Terminex.
Even now when he comes to spray he always asks how I am doing and if everything is ok as he knew how close I was to mom.
He is always professional and polite and respectful and kind when he comes.
